All game ejections are subject to additional games !!!

*League Ejection/Suspension

League ejections are a serious matter. Upon ejection the player will be advised, in writing or email, of a date in which the hockey directors and board members will review the player’s conduct. If the player fails to attend the review, they will be automatically ejected from the league with no further review or consideration for further play.

If you are ejected from the league you are no longer allowed in the arena during B.A.H.A. functions and you must submit a letter to the league if you wish to request  reinstatement for the next season.

Forfeitures

If a team does not have enough players at game time, the team short of players automatically forfeits and will suffer a loss in the standings. A team may play with 4 players if they feel the team has a chance to win without forfeiting. Teams short of players may only borrow enough players to reach a total of 7 overall. A game may be played with substitute players from other B.A.H.A. teams only - NO EXCEPTIONS. If you use players not on your team you forfeit. If your game starts with borrowed players and your team shows later, it is still considered a loss. No players outside of the league are allowed on the ice - absolutely no exceptions. You can not let friends, family, etc. fill in for you or be on the ice at any time due to fairness of all players and for waiver/legal issues. This is a league not a “pick-up” game. Any forfeiture will automatically become a scrimmage game with no referees and be 3 - 20 minute run time periods.

Goalie

Goalie sub is only allowed when rostered goaltender is not able to play, sub goalie must be approved by the league, must be a member of the league & should be set by the league to play in the open game slot.  If not a current member goalie must be set by the league.

Goalie must be a member of BAHA unless goalie is pre-approved by the league.

Rostered goalie is not allowed to skate as a player unless replaced by a rostered skater from the same team with league approval.

If rostered goalie skates as a forward player with out be replaced by a roster player in net the game is a forfeit .

Goalie can not be sub for in the playoffs unless pre-approved by the league .  If sub goalie is used sub goalie must play in all remaining playoff games for the team in which he was a sub & can not play for any team that is or was in the playoffs if so sub team will forfeit & be out of the playoffs

League will add a goalie as need to insure games can be played.

2 min penalty to team using a goalie other than there own if league is not notified before game day

Mercy Rule

If a team is up by 5 points or more during the last 5 minutes of play in the 3rd period we will play run time. The clock will run as long as the lead stays 5 or more until the period is over. In addition, if a team is up by 10 points or more at any time, the clock will run. when playing in the 10 or more mercy rule all minor penalty's against the team with the lead will be a penalty shot & the clock will run at all times until score is within 4 points or less.

Playoffs

We are using a 6 team format this season. There are no divisions. Standings are set by points. Top 4 teams go to playoffs: 1st round - 1 vs. 4 & 2 vs. 3

Win - 2 points Loss - 0 points

Shoot-out win - 2 points Shoot-out loss - 1 point

If two teams have the same number of points, positions will be determined by the team who won the most games in regular season first, if still tied it will be  head to head.

Game ties

Games that end in a tie will go into a shoot out (regular season games)  The stats show this game as a tie.

It will be a 3 player per team shoot out - if still tied after 3 it will go to 3 player sudden death.  Each team will have a min of 1 turn each in sudden death shoot out.

Winner will receive 2 points, the loser receives 1 point.

1st round off playoffs are 5 min over time & then a shoot out -no tie in playoff games

The Alpine Cup Championship game is a 13 minute + period sudden death. then it will be based on ice time avalible either more overtime or a possible shootout

this will be decided by BAHA only

Stats/Goals/Assists/Clock

We strive to post stats weekly if possible. Goals and assists are given by on ice officials only. Do not go to the score keeper for additions or changes, see the officials. You must wear the jersey assigned to you or your stats will not be recorded.

**We post stats as a perk to the players of BAHA. We have no gain in this and stat discrepancies are not open to discussion**

Clock or scoring concerns should be reported to the officials. Yelling at the time keeper falls under “official abuse” and may result in a penalty. Time and scores on the boards are checked frequently according to the stat sheets. Due to the accuracy in written record keeping, there may be a slight delay in posting scores on the boards.

Jerseys

You must wear the jersey assigned to you on opening night for statistical reasons. We go by the number on the jerseys when keeping stats, not names. Wearing another jersey can cause confusion for the referee and the statistician. If you play in any other jersey, no stats will be credited to you for that game. The cost of any jersey upgrades or logos are the responsibility of the team and must be approved by the league director.

fee of $265 to use the name or logo of a Buss. or company

**NOTE**

RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE TO REFLECT ATTITUDE & PLAY IN ORDER TO MAKE BAHA SAFE & FUN FOR EVERYONE. BAHA follows USA HOCKEY rule but BAHA IS NOT A USA HOCKEY SANCTIONED LEAGUE

KNOW THE RULES USA HOCKEY  HAVE CHANGED DRAMATICALLY!

If you have not read the rules in the last year you don't know them !!!!!

Unless noted it will be played or called as USA HOCKEY rules

* note BAHA is not a USA HOCKEY sanctioned league

Through the new standard of rules enforcement, our game, much like the National Hockey League, will continue to allow the opportunity for improved skill development and a more positive hockey environment for all participants. The mission of BAHA is clear; through this new initiative a greater emphasis will be placed on skating, puck possession and the proper use of the body to establish position and a competitive advantage.

The goal of the enforcement standard is to reduce restraining infractions in the game and not to remove legal body checking or body contact. A hard body check or using body contact/position (non-checking classifications) to gain a competitive advantage over the opponent should not be penalized as long as it is performed within the rules.

The principles of this new enforcement standard include the following:

  • The use of the stick will be limited to only playing the puck.
  • The stick will not be allowed to in any way impede a player’s progress.
  • The use of a free hand/arm will not be allowed to grab or impede a player’s progress.
  • Players who use their physical skills and/or anticipation and have a positional advantage shall not lose that advantage as a result of illegal acts by the opponent.
  • Players will be held accountable for acts of an intimidating or dangerous nature.

Enforcement Standard – These penalties are to be called with very strict enforcement

HOOKING

  • A player cannot use his/her stick against an opponent’s body (puck carrier or non-puck carrier) to gain a positional advantage. Examples include:

    • tugs or pulls on the body, arms or hands of the opponent which allows for the space between the players to diminish
    • placing the stick in front of the opponent’s body and locking on – impeding the opponent’s progress or causing a loss of balance.
    • stick on the hand/arm that takes away the ability for the opponent to pass or shoot the puck with a normal amount of force

TRIPPING

  • A player cannot use his/her stick on the legs or feet of an opponent in a manner that would cause a loss of balance or for them to trip or fall. Examples include:

    • placing the stick in front of the opponent’s legs for the purpose of impeding progress, even if on the ice, with no effort to legally play the puck
    • placing the stick between the legs of the opponent (can opener/corkscrew) that causes a loss of balance or impedes the progress of the opponent.

HOLDING

  • A player cannot wrap his/her arms around an opponent or use a free hand to clutch, grab or hold the stick, jersey or body on the opponent in a manner that impedes their progress. Examples include:

    • wrapping one or both arms around the opponent along the boards in a manner that pins them against the boards and prevents them from playing the puck or skating
    • grabbing the opponent’s body, stick or sweater with one or both hands
      - using a free arm/hand to restrain or impede the opponent’s progress

INTERFERENCE

  • A player cannot use his/her body (“pick” or “block”) to impede the progress of an opponent with no effort to play the puck, maintain normal foot speed or established skating lane. Examples include:

    • intentionally playing the body of an opponent who does not have possession or possession and control of the puck.
    • using the body to establish a ”pick” or “block” that prevents an opponent from being able to chase a puck carrier
    • reducing foot speed or changing an established skating lane for the purpose of impeding an opponent from being able to chase a puck carrier

Allowed Actions

  • a player is entitled to the ice he/she occupies as long as they are able to maintain their own foot speed and body position between opponent and puck
  • players are allowed to compete for body position using their strength and balance in front of the goal or along the boards

SLASHING

  • The use of the stick will be limited to only playing the puck. Any stick contact, as a result of a slashing motion, to the hands/ arms or body of the opponent will be strictly penalized. In addition, hard slashes to the upper portion of the stick (just below the hands) of an opponent, with no attempt to legally play the puck, shall also be penalized.

OTHER INFRACTIONS

In addition to the above mentioned enforcement standards, all other infractions, including contact to the head, checking from behind, cross checking, high sticking and roughing (including late avoidable checks) shall be penalized to a strict enforcement standard.

CONCLUSION

B.A.H.A. Officials shall enforce a strict penalty standard according to the guidelines that have been established.

Players are expected to compete within the playing rules.

* NOT - BAHA is not a USA HOCKEY sanctioned league
